I always complain to myself about not having enough nice clothes to wear, but my myopia doesn't allow me to see 2 wardrobes (one at home and one in hall) packed full with clothes. And I still buy more of them anyway. I don't give two hoots spending $100 on my hair, but a $30++ dinner is considered expensive. Yet seriously, do we need a new clothes, funky haircuts, pretty shoes or some refreshing facials to feel good about ourselves, about our lives?
Perhaps.
But cheapo Huijing has a few ways to make you feel good about yourself and think "hey, my life is wonderful afterall". And its very easy to do! (plus since I am so nice, I shall share with my friends some tips...)
1.
Change your hair parting ie: change side, put centre/side parting, put hairband etc. When I put hairband, the Tropi people say I look damn auntie, especially with my specs. Ok wad... different look lor. The new look might give you some confidence in whatever you do and you might walk with a spring in your step. :)
2.
Have a healthy exercise routine. Though I have mild Bronchitis, the 400m I ran for NTU meet made me feel better (I can actually smile to myself), albiet being very very breathless (what to do.. yandao aka junwen was there... haha). Timing was horrid though, and I hope to cut down on my timing. I wonder if its really the bronchitis or my ultra lack of fitness that made me unable to breath after 200m. Ok out of point. Remember, all work no play means total no life, all play no work means exam will da bao.
3.
Drink lots of water. Water is known to be good for our bodies. But I'm sure many of you didn't know that drinking water actually helps to relieve stress. So when you are stressed or feel like you are going to break down, take deep breaths and drink plenty of water.
4.
Keep a to-do list. A lot of us have a lot of things to handle and manage, and we never seem to have enough time for everything. Prioritise and jot down details/events if you are scatterbrained like me. I have a calendar on my board for major events in the month (eg:quiz, meeting, hall events...), and I'm gonna plan a schedule for my recess week soon. :)
5.
Don't give a f*** what others think, but I must admit, easier said than done. Most people don't really care however, and as long as you do whatever you can in that particular situation, give those circumstances, you have done your best. As long as you can live with yourself. Plus studies have shown that focusing on the task instead of what people think the end result SHOULD be makes you a more productive person.
6.
Spoil yourself occassionally. You can treat yourself after a hard day's work by eating Swensens ice-cream (its apparently $26 for an earthquake, fries and 2 side dishes), do some home-made facial mask (I wanted to try the cucumber thingy on my eyes, but there were only mushrooms in the fridge) or go shopping
but keeping expenditure modest. I went to Chinatown today and there was this fabulous shoe shop! The wedges were very very nice and if I was not so tall, I'd have bought at least 3 pairs of them. Good thing they were very high, and if I wear, I'd be 185cm. Bought a happy looking slipper($26), and while many say its too bright, I don't care. Cos I'm happie~
7.
Spend time with your loved ones. Need I say more? If you love them, spending time with them always make you happy and blessed. I have my parents and brother. Boyfriend still pending (till my bronchitis is fully gone).
Haha.. actually nothing much. Just that I see so many of my friends having so many things to do, many feeling stressed and tired... To all you people,
JIA YOU~~!!!
I also gotta pull my socks up and add some oil into my engine. Project mates are more free-riding than me (means I do the whole damn project), and there are 2 assignments, 2 quizes, and one debate waiting for me at the start of next week. BAHHH.
